Ideology seems very much to be the paradigm of modern political thought. Some form of ideology is held by virtually everyone with an interest in politics in the West. While most are drawn to either the standard liberal or conservative there are those who cling onto the fringes: fascism, communism, islamism, anarchism etc. The unifying feature of ideology is the existence of proscribed and prohibited beliefs for people claiming to be part of that ideology.
